Overview

Hayward Flow Control, a division of Hayward Industries, is a leading U.S. manufacturer of industrial thermoplastic valves, actuation and controls, instrumentation, filters, strainers, corrosion resistant pumps, bulkhead fittings and tank accessories.  Hayward Flow Control products are used in water and wastewater treatment, chemical processing & transfer, chemical feed, aquatic/animal life support systems, mining, and many other industrial processing systems worldwide.   Hayward's thermoplastic and actuation products accommodate aggressive and corrosive environments, delicate ecosystems, or the strictest chemical balances to keep water and life working together. This position is based in ­Houston, TX.

 

The Actuation Business Development Manager will lead and have responsibility for the sales activities and objectives for targeted Actuation Product Lines within the Flow Control Division by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities

  • Be the product and market expert and as well as a trusted resource to Actuation customer base.
  • Identify and develop potential Actuation Distribution partners (VACs) to expand the sales channel and market share for Hayward Actuation products
  • Establish and build relationships with key Engineering Firms and OEMs for Hayward Actuation specifications and facilitate business relationships 
  • Develop and implement annual business plan, including sales & marketing strategy to meet sales objectives
  • Work with local Hayward Sales associates in managing Actuation Accounts including Engineering Firms and OEM customers
  • Train and support overall Hayward Sales team in the proper sales techniques, applications, markets, and product knowledge required to successfully sell actuation and instrumentation
  • Evaluate existing selling channels (RSM/DSMs, Distributors, Reps) and make necessary adjustments and improvements as required
  • Evaluate competitive products and prepare feature and benefit comparisons and selling strategies for the sales force.  Keep the organization fully informed of competitor activities
  • Identify requirements for new products including specifications, market forecasts and financial analysis
  • Research and make recommendations for product improvements, cost reductions, accessories, complimentary product lines, and new products
  • Develop and maintain market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and develop sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company
  • Prepare and coordinate marketing and promotion programs with the FC Marketing team
  • Participate and represent Hayward at trade shows and trade association meetings to promote the Hayward and its Actuation products
  • Assist Customer Care in the development and maintenance of key account profiles and contacts (direct and indirect) in the CRM and ERP systems
  • Utilize Hayward’s CRM for all customer details, sales call activity and weekly business reporting
  • Perform other business-related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education / Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years related sales and technical experience in electric actuators and controls.
  • Experience in a sales management role for at least 5 years also required.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) required. Mechanical or Electrical engineering background or degree preferred. Technical aptitude is a must.

Capabilities/Qualifications:

  • Personal computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint and a mechanical aptitude are essential. 
  • Experience with CRM, specifically SalesForce desired.
  • Must also possess a valid driver license and be willing and able to drive long distances and travel by plane.  Travel up to 50% expected.
