Overview

Hayward Holdings Inc. Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.  This position is based in North Kingstown, RI.

 

The Supplier Quality Engineer will be the primary QA position responsible for recruiting, assessing, developing, and managing all Quality aspects related to Hayward’s supply base.  The Supplier Quality engineer will have the primary responsibility for electronics (PCBA and PCBA Components).  This position reports to the Director of Commodities and will work with many cross functional teams including engineering, quality, commodities, and operations.  The position will support global contract manufacturing.

 

Responsibilities

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Work in partnership with the Commodity Management staff to establish quality performance standards for potential supply partners, assess potential partners for compliance with these standards, and actively participate in the selection decision.  
  • Assist in new manufacturing partner start-ups, including process or assembly qualification, First Article Inspection approval, establishing packaging / transit requirements, and other activities as may be required for a successful partnership.
  • Maintain an ongoing periodic assessment (audit) program.  Track and report Non-Conformance (NCMR) rates for contract manufacturing partners, provide feedback to partners, and proactively address performance issues.
  • Recommend corrective action for poorly performing suppliers, including replacement with an alternative contract manufacturer when appropriate. 
  • Assist in failure analysis of product issues.  Communicate results to the suppliers and ensure effective and timely corrective action(s) are taken.
  • Support and actively participate in continuous improvement / cost reduction opportunities with suppliers whenever appropriate.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

 

  • Working knowledge of Electronics and Contract Manufacturing.
  • Well versed in fundamental Quality and LEAN manufacturing concepts and terminology.
  • Knowledge of Shainin problem solving preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or engineering required with an MBA preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of standard geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) terminology and symbology as they apply to prints and models.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proved ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to accomplish objectives as both a team member and team leader.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to generate and work with Excel models while simultaneously implementing new business enterprise systems.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with proven knowledge of supplier quality engineer activities.
  • Ability to travel 5-15% of the time, nationally or internationally as required.

 

Work Environment:

 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee normally works in an office environment, but occasionally will be required to work in a manufacturing or laboratory at both Hayward and supplier facilities.
